Description

Joining Forces: Collaborations for Student Success In and Out of the Classroom 11 November 2008 Online This webinar will showcase a set of programs at DePaul University – including the Chicago Quarter, the Office of Academic Advising Support, and the University Internship Program – which contribute to students intellectual and ethical growth, civil and social responsibility, work-related skills, and career awarenes. In each program, staff collaborate with faculty to convey a consistent message about student success: in particular, the need for both academic and career planning, and the benefits of integrating their work in and out of the classroom. Participants will learn models for faculty/staff collaborations; a framework for helping students engage in academic and career planning; a framework for sequencing targeted experiences across several years that will lead to students success; a framework for integrating accredited academic coursework with supervised, relevant experiences in the workplace. Who should attend? *Faculty, staff, and administrators responsible for academic programs directed towards first year students and others exploring majors; *Faculty, staff, and administrators responsible for short- and long-term academic internship programs; *Faculty, staff, and administrators interested in building collaborative partnerships to support students success.
