Humans are turning resources into waste faster than nature can turn waste
back into resources. New calculations suggest we are using 25 per cent
more resources than are renewed naturally in a year. If the present trend
continues, the likelihood of large scale ecosystem collapse by 2050 is a
distinct possibility causing further habitat destruction threatening both bio-
diversity and human well being.
The conference envisages inter-disciplinary approaches for the sustainable
utilization of natural resources. The wide scope of this conference will
provide excellent opportunity to the young researchers to interact and
discuss with distinguished scientists from across the nation. We will have
the opportunity to exchange knowledge and perspectives for the
common goal of promoting technologies for protection, conservation,
restoration and sustainable utilization of our natural resources.
1. Non-Renewable & renewable natural resources
2. Biological resources of India
3. Biodiversity in India
4. Utilization of untapped resources
5. Threats to natural resources
6. Sustainable utilization of nonliving & living resources
7. Indigenous technologies for utilization of natural resources
8. Potentials for new technologies-Biotechnology,
Nanotechnology, GIS and Remote Sensing,
Environmentally sound technology etc.
9. Mineral resources and their sustainable utilization
10. Industrial waste as a resource

JITM : THE HOST
The Jagannath Institute for Technology and Management was established in 1997, borne out of the vision of late Prime Minister P. V. Narsimha Rao to
bring fruits of technology and higher education to remote areas of Orissa. JITM is situated 8KM away from Paralakhemundi town, towards Berhampur
(via- Mohona). Mr. Alluri Murthy Raju, an able academic entrepreneur who was the architect in establishing JITM affiliated to Berhampur University for
School of Biotechnology and to Biju Pattnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela for its Engineering program. You are invited to visit us at
www.jitm.org for detailed information on our vision, mission and achievements.
Currently a team of professional academicians headed by Prof. D.N. Rao (in the role of Director), assisted by Dr. D. K. Mishra (Principal) manage its
day to day activities. JITM has formed a R&D cell led by Prof. S.N. Torasia who supervises all research, consultancy & conference activities. JITM follows
a model of 'Corporate Good Governance' and 'Community Development' in unison. After its successful implementation of 'Bio-Diesel' project in
Keonjhar District (winner of the Mondialogo Engineering award instituted jointly by UNESCO and DaimlerChrysler). JITM is now taking up similar
projects in local area with help of “Association for India's Development” or AID (www.aidindia.org), which is an NGO, whose Orissa chapter operates
from its office inside JITM.
HOW TO REACH JITM
