Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) is the established method of choice for nucleic acid analysis and is used for accurate and sensitive quantification for any specific nucleic acid in a wide range of biological samples. qPCR is widely used for viral load testing, testing for pathogenic bacteria,
and in combination with reverse transcription (qRT-PCR) for gene expression profiling. Its simplicity, specificity, and sensitivity, together with the potential for high-throughput and ongoing introduction of new chemistries, more reliable instrumentation, and improved protocols continue qPCR as the validation tool of choice.
