The retail banking industry in Europe is poised to undergo considerable change. The growing convergence of banking conditions across Europe and initiatives such as SEPA will lay the foundations for banks to derive real value from cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the future. Banks will need to adapt strategy, not only to capitalise on new opportunities and keep pace with evolution in technology and core banking activities, but also to combat the challenge of new entrants to the market. Strong distribution networks and product offerings remain critical to customer acquisition and retention. Equally, there is considerable scope for retail banks to capture greater market share in affluent and business customer segments. Retail banks must evolve in order to keep pace with the changing financial services climate.

Now in its eighth year and with over 220 attendees in 2006, 'Retail Banking in Europe' has cemented its position as an industry leading event bringing together consistently high-level speakers and delegates to debate key issues.

*Exploring strengthening markets: excelling in consumer lending and premier banking
