Description

The motivation of this meeting resides in the fact that multiple physiological and pathological agents, including anti-cancer chemotherapy and viruses, can induce cell death. However, it is ongoing conundrum under which circumstances cellular demise induces an innate or cognate immune response. The exact molecular mechanisms making the difference between immunogenic and tolerogenic cell death are not yet elucidated. The putative immunogenicity of apoptotic and necrotic cell death, as well as its therapeutic exploitation, may have far reaching implications for the treatment of cancer and viral infections. This is the topic of the present conference, which will deal with central aspects of cell biology, immunology, virology, and cancer research.
