Description The major motivation behind BEM was to reduce the dependency of the analysis on the definition of meshes. This has allowed the method to expand naturally into new techniques such as Dual Reciprocity and all other Mesh Reduction Methods (MRM). MRM and BEM continue to be a very active area of research with many of the resulting techniques being successfully applied to solve increasingly complex problems.

BEM/MRM research attempted right from the beginning to produce industrial application tools. Complex mathematical formulations are more subservient to the needs of the practising engineer. The aim was to produce user-friendly codes which are seemingly effortless to use, whilst incorporating inside very complex calculations. The 28th Conference particularly welcomes case studies and papers dealing with computational issues and software developments in addition to those of a more theoretical nature.

BEM/MRM 28 aims to disseminate the latest research and applications in the field of Mesh Reduction Techniques. The range of topics covered is listed below.
The friendliness and openness of the BEM/MRM Community, particularly at the World Conferences, adds to its ability to grow by constantly attracting young researchers.
