| Description |
By what means does the course of globalization impact Asia and Oceania, and how in turn are Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States influenced?
-How can we as agents in the global community affect positive change?
"Refocusing Our Lenses" is an attempt to confront problems facing Asians and Pacific Islanders that other trajectories have not thoroughly addressed. We will explore the impact of globalization in a transnational Asia and Oceania through the foci of human issues, the environment and economics. We will analyze the troublesome nomenclature of "Asian/Pacific American," specifically the political ramifications of including Pacific Islanders within the category of "Asian American." Lastly, we will link education with activism, by discussing how our responsibilities as members of these transnational communities can be realized through mobilization and action.
