Description Join us for a world-class gathering of experts to assess the likelihood that we are tipping toward abrupt and highly disruptive climate change. As we celebrate the Climate Institute’s 20th anniversary, we expect to identify practical methods of achieving the stabilization of global greenhouse concentrations within the lifetime of the Summit’s attendees. The science symposium will explore the implications of changes in the intensity of hurricanes and other severe weather events, in the melting rates of glaciers and ice sheets, in the incidence and severity of drought, and in the impacts on ecosystems and human health.
Join us as we…
-Build partnerships with others committed to collaboration in coastal protection, climate adaptation, and climate stabilization, including members of civic and religious groups and universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and throughout Europe.
-Launch the International Leadership Alliance for Climate Stabilization, a coalition of island nations and states or provinces within populous developing countries committed to pioneering climate protection strategies.
-Discuss specific examples of corporate innovation that are making a difference and can serve as an example for others, while recognizing the pioneering efforts of climate leaders, such as Goldman Sachs.
Speakers include:
Dr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson: President of Iceland; Keynote speaker on Moving Toward Climate Stabilization: Iceland’s Example.
United States Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME): (Invited)
Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (Chair); Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Senate Committee on Finance; Senate Committee on Intelligence; and Co-Chair, International Taskforce on Climate Change.
Dr. Robert W. Corell: Chair, Arctic Climate Impact Assessment; and Senior Fellow, Atmospheric Policy Program, American Meteorological Society.
Reverend Richard Cizik: Vice President of Government Affairs, National Association of Evangelicals
