| Description |
This session is a strategy packed course of highly effective and practical classroom management and school discipline ideas. These strategies can be used immediately without complex details that are useless and time consuming. Nine specific objectives will be addressed for all classrooms and all age groups. First, attendees will be able to prevent and diffuse anger outbursts and noncompliant behaviors. Also, participants will be able to know how, when, and where to seat students for maximum performance and be able to assertively prevent discipline problems before they begin. Next participants will be shown how to maintain dignity and respect while dealing with difficult students. Effective strategies will also be discussed that allow teachers to remain calm and consistent without reaching “unbearable limits” in the classroom. Participants will also be taught to use “Refocus” a strategy that identifies and averts problem situations before they happen. Another useful strategy demonstrated in the session is minimizing distractions in the classroom that hamper instruction. Next, participants will be able to deal with the out-of-control students by eliminating triggers and intervening early. Also, attendees will learn to reward and motivate students intrinsically. Finally, participants will learn to “hook” students’ attention with a wide array of prompting procedures that engage easy to teach learners and reluctant learners with simple yet powerful techniques. The outcome of this session is improving student behavior and giving teachers back their time to teach.
