Description Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UNIMAS is organizing the 5th International Conference on Information Technology in Asia (CITA’07).

The Conference will take place in the year 2007 from 9th till 12th July in Hilton Hotel, Kuching, Malaysia. The full conference will comprise a day of conference workshop and a two-day parallel session. The theme for CITA’07 is ‘Social Computing: Engaging Communities’. This conference will provide a platform for researchers and industry players to discuss the role and impact of Social Computing as well as sharing ideas on implementations and integration of these emergent technologies. CITA’07 invites high-quality paper submissions in areas included, but not limited to the following tracks: Emerging Technologies & Platform, Social Computing Infrastructure, Community Informatics, Computational Models & Systems, Human Computer Interaction, Knowledge Networks & Management, Ubiquitous Information Management, Agents & Autonomous Systems and Image Processing & Visualization.

The workshop will be conducted by Prof. Ian Witten from University of Waikato in New Zealand. His research interests include information retrieval, machine learning, text compression, and programming by demonstration. Prof Ian directs the New Zealand Digital Library research project. He is also the recipient of numerous awards including the 2004 IFIP Namur Award, 2005 SIGKDD Service Award and 2006 the Royal Society of New Zealand Hector Medal.

The conference aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from various ICT fields, not only from Asia, but also from all over the world. In addition to the conference, there will be social events with plenty of opportunities to network as well as to enjoy the warm hospitality of Sarawakians and the exquisite flora and fauna.
