On June 18th and 19th 2007 the second edition of the multidisciplinary conference 'Broadening Horizons - Élargir les Horizons', takes place in Lyon, France. After a successful first edition in Ghent (Belgium) in 2006, the organisation has been passed to the Maison de l'Orient en du Méditerrannée.
Once again, the conference addresses the diverse issue of landscape study of the Mediterranean and the Near East. With interdisciplinarity as its central aim, it hopes to attract doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from such disciplines as (geo-)archaeology, geology, (historical) geography, history, enivornmental studies (palynology, archaeozoology...) in order to strenghten contacts between these fields and produce greater awarenss of one-anothers concepts and methods. In order to also broaden these contacts accross the too often still existent Anglosaxon - French divide, presenters can choose either English or French as presentation language.
Guest speakers will be Eric Fouache, geoarchaeologist and professor in Paris, and Hartmut Kühne, archaeologist and professor in Berlin.
