Engineers play a vital role in managing health and safety risks in the workplace. It is therefore important that engineering graduates are more prepared than ever before to meet the needs of modern industry and accept their responsibility for ensuring safer practices. Evidence suggests that the lack of detailed prescription for risk education learning outcomes and course content is one of the main factors inhibiting universities from addressing risk education in a more comprehensive way. The seminar will attempt to address these concerns and show how risk topics can be embedded into an undergraduate engineering curriculum.
