| Description |
Summer Institute, scheduled for June 13-15, 2007 at the Embassy Suites Airport Hotel & Convention Center in North Charleston, is the Campaign’s three-day annual conference. Summer Institute offers intensive training for teen pregnancy prevention professionals, social workers, school personnel, nurses, faith leaders and other youth-serving professionals through plenary sessions and over 50 workshops. In 2006, more than 500 people representing South Carolina and eight other states attended the Summer Institute.
This year, the conference theme is “Teen Pregnancy Prevention for the 21st Century: Get Connected.” Presenters will focus on science-based approaches to teen pregnancy preventions as well as hot topics in adolescent sexuality and youth culture such as GLBTQ youth, teens and cyber communities, emergency contraception (EC), HPV, hip hop culture and more in an effort to help providers understand the link between these key issues and teen pregnancy prevention. The Institute is planned by a diverse committee of youth-serving professionals from across the state.
