It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to take part in the Second International Conference on Environmental, Industrial and Applied Microbiology (BioMicroWorld2007), which will be held in the Spanish city of Seville and will be opened to researchers all over the world with the aims to promote discussion, to share knowledge and reflection, to create new insights and to expand expertise in such a spread community like the applied microbiology one. It will be a high level and cross-disciplinary applied microbiology meeting also covering educational aspects.

While microbiology is about the study of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, and protozoa) and of related topics such as microbial interactions, the immune response, and molecular genetics, applied microbiology is quite interdisciplinary, overlapping aspects of several other academic branches, some of them traditionally considered nearby, such as cell biology, molecular and cell biophysics, physiology, parasitology, biochemistry, genetics, medicine, pharmacology, and medical technology, and others seemingly more distant, e.g., physics, physical (bio)chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, computer science, information technology, and instrumentation. The wonderful thing is that collaboration among fields is resulting in extraordinary advances in this post-genomic world. Thus, cross-disciplinary cooperation in microbiology has made it possible for microbiologists to contribute to areas as diverse as molecular genetics, biosensors, cancer, aging, immunodeficiency diseases, animal and plant cell cultures, and pharmacology, among others. Modern microbiology includes a broad variety of scholarly approaches that lead to a better understanding of all living things at the microscopy/cellular and nanometer-scale/molecular level, with beneficial applications in medicine, agriculture, industry, and ecology as a result.

The Conference will specially welcome papers reporting interdisciplinary researchers, relating microbiology with other sciences as physics/chemistry, environmental sciences, materials science, polymer science, genetics, pharmacology, microscopy/imaging science, etc. In other words, we are specially (but not exclusively) interested in papers that relate the techniques and culture of microbiology to research areas usually associated with other scientific and engineering disciplines.

With this interdisciplinary perspective, you are cordially invited to participate actively in this International Conference as presenter, attendee, reviewer, sponsor, exhibitor...
