CRITICARE-2008, BHOPAL
Fourteenth congress of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine will be held from 13th to 17th February, 2008, at Bhopal, India. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is a fascinating amalgam of scenic beauty, old historic city and modern urban planning. It is the 11th century city, founded by Raja Bhoj and was named Bhojpal, but the present city was established by an Afghan soldier, Dost Mohammed (1707-1740).
Bhopal today presents a multi-faceted profile; the old city with its marketplaces and fine old mosques and palaces still bears the aristocratic imprint of its former rulers, among them the succession of powerful Begums who ruled Bhopal from 1819 to 1926.
The two lakes of Bhopal still dominate the city, and are indeed its nucleus. Few state capitals in India have a history as eventful as Bhopal. It is greener and cleaner than most cities in the country.
The venue noor-us-sabah palace affords one of the best views of the breathtakingly beautiful and expansive Bhopal lakes and the vindhya hills and is the ideal base for exploring the city of Bhopal and its surroundings. It is located at a distance of just 6kms from domestic airport and 5kms from Railway Station.
The people of Bhopal are a very warm and hospitable lot. There is an old Indian adage, atithi devo bhava a guest is as God. This will constitute of basic knowledge relevant to clinical practice as well as advanced level clinical and methodological discussions. The idea is to bring together international and national experts in these areas to present the latest advances.
The theme of CRITICARE-2008 “Evidence Guidelines and Enforcement” was chosen to overcome the challenges of new millennium which indeed is a great concern for the entire critical care patients worldwide. To discuss the existing details and find out ways to overcome the shortcomings associated with these three most important connecting links for improved outcome.
