Description
According to the American Heart Association, only 13 percent of women view heart disease as a health threat, even though its still womens No. 1 killer. Heart disease in women remains under recognized, under diagnosed and under treated. Why are many hospitals across the nation expanding their Womens Cardiac departments and services? The baby boom population will begin to reach age 65 in 2011, and the majority of the population will be women. The impact on heart disease women will therefore only continue to grow now and in the future. Due to the large and aging female baby boomer population, Cardiac programs across the country must be prepared to meet the needs of this growing market segment. Increased competition for Cardiac Services among healthcare organizations means that designing and managing an efficient Womens Cardiac Department is more crucial than ever.
