The New York Academy of Sciences is proud to present the inaugural Mushett Family Foundation symposium on colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer world wide and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the Western world. Early detection is essential for successful treatment of colorectal cancer; however current diagnostic tools and therapies are limited in their ability to detect these crucial early signs. The goal of this symposium is to bring together leading scientists and clinicians to discuss current advances in biomarker detection and targeted therapies, and to review recent and ongoing clinical trials. The meeting will conclude with an important panel to discuss ways to integrate new technologies in biomarker development into future clinical trials.
