After a long period in the doldrums, power plant construction is enjoying
something of a resurgence in parts of Europe, with, for example,
Germany embarking on convoys of coal plants, Russia planning mega
investment in new power stations, the UK apparently in the throes of a
new “dash for gas”, the Dutch considering a major new IGCC initiative,
the Spanish embracing advanced combined cycle technology, and
everyone claiming to be developing the world’s first fossil fuelled power
plant with carbon capture and sequestration.
At New Build – Europe 2008, the second in our series of conferences
on this theme, we will explore the prospects for new construction in the
power generation sector, the challenges and the opportunities. We will
examine key projects currently underway or at the planning stage, and
provide a platform to share experience and learn lessons.
