| Description |
Patients presenting with multiple Cardiometabolic risk factors (including insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, central obesity, hypertension, microalbuminuria, increased inflammation, and oxidative stress) have triple the risk of experiencing a myocardial infarction and/or stroke and double the risk of mortality from these conditions. In addition, their risk for developing type 2 diabetes, if not already present, is fivefold.
The 2007 Cardiometabolic Health Congress will translate the latest clinical data and research into practical and effective approaches to identify and manage the approximately 25% of the US population at increased Cardiometabolic risk. The goal of the congress is to improve patient outcomes through early identification and intervention strategies for patients with, or at risk of developing, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
