The 17th International Symposium on Olefin Metathesis and Related Chemistry (ISOM XVII) will be held in Pasadena California from Sunday July 29 through Friday August 3, 2007. This symposium takes place every two years with the previous location being Poznan Poland in 2005.
The field of olefin metathesis has served as an important area of interaction among inorganic, polymer, organic chemists and chemical engineers. As such it has had an important influence on all these disciplines. Over the past few years, the applications of olefin metathesis in a number of areas are starting to fulfill much of the promise of this catalytic process. The series of ISOM meetings have played an important role in the progress of metathesis and have provided an opportunity for major scientists and industrial leaders involved in this rapidly developing field to meet on a regular basis.
ISOM XVII will be the platform for the presentation of the latest developments in catalytic chemistry, applications in organic and polymer synthesis, as well as mechanistic and theoretical investigations. The time of the meeting has been expanded to include over 70 planned talks and two poster sessions. The Organizing Committee has planned for significant contributions to be made from industry leaders providing insight into the current state of commercial development of olefin metathesis. Confirmation of attendance has already been received from Nobel Prize Laureates Robert H. Grubbs & Richard R. Schrock.
The program sessions will begin Sunday morning, July 29th following a buffet breakfast. Conference registration will be open on Saturday, July 28th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and then Sunday morning from 8:00-10:00 AM. Attendees are encouraged to participate in a cocktail reception on Saturday evening to kick off the symposium.
