| Description |
Social workers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) serve a diverse group of people experiencing a wide range of social challenges. Therefore, they need advanced knowledge, skills, and expertise in a variety of areas and practice settings in order to effectively handle the various issues and challenges faced by individuals, groups, families, organizations, and the larger UAE community.
As the primary educational training provider for social workers in the Emirates, the Social Work Program at UAE University is mandated to produce professional graduates in the field of Social Work, who will be able to deliver effective social work services, identify and address social challenges and meet individual, familial, group, and community needs throughout UAE.
The UAEU Social Work Program seeks to create a forum where academics, student social workers, practicing social workers, and others can both collaborate and coordinate both their respective theoretical effort and practical work on the state of social work in the UAE. It is hoped that the proposed National Social Work Conference will provide an opportunity for social work theory and the realities of social work practice in the UAE to engage constructively in meeting the needs of the communities they serve.
