Introduction:
The International nursing conference on “Nursing between Theory and Practice” will be held at the Islamic University of Gaza in the period of 24-25 April 2007. The conference will provide an opportunity for Palestinian nurses to discuss pertinent health care and career issues. Participants will get acquainted with the up-to-date modalities for professional development. Some of the challenges that encounter nurses include: gap between theory and practice, public image of nursing, nursing autonomy, and quality of nursing care provided to Palestinian patients in various health care settings.
Goal:
The conference will provide an understanding and acquaintance with contemporary nursing issues on the national and international levels, especially the gap between the nursing theory and practice.
Objectives:
1- To gain benefit from the mutual exchange of scholarly work and nurses’ experiences through the participation of worldwide nursing scientists.
2- To explore the sophisticated issues that encounter the nursing profession in order to provide appropriate recommendations toward practical solutions of discussed issues.
3- To discuss the challenges that confront the nursing profession at both domestic and international levels, and suggest possible means to overcome these challenges.
4- To provide the state of art and cutting edge advances in nursing science; both theory and practice.
5- To support the conduct of scientific nursing research endeavors toward bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Conference Topics:
The International Nursing Conference will focus on the following topics:
1- The contemporary state of the nursing profession at the national and international levels.
2- The depth of the gap between nursing theory and nursing practice and available means for bridging such a gap.
3- The challenges that encounter the nursing profession.
4- State of the art and the cutting edge advances in the nursing science.
Languages:
The official languages of the International Nursing Conference are English and Arabic.

Invitation and travel:
The conference organizing committee cordially invites all nurses worldwide to present, participate, and attend our first international conference at the Islamic University of Gaza which will be held in the period 24-25 April 2007
An invitation letter can be sent (e-mailed or faxed) to interested participants who are traveling from a regional or international countries.
Video conferencing will be available for off-campus participants who are unable to physically arrive for presentation or attendance. We are happy to clarify these prior to booking.
Abstract submission:
Abstracts should not exceed 500 words of 12 fonts. Abstracts should be e-mailed to the conference organizing committee at: imikky@mail.iugaza.edu.ps no latter than
20 January, 2007.
Abstracts and full paper submissions should be sent in MS-Word or PDF document format.

Conference proceedings:
All accepted abstracts and papers presented at the international nursing conference will be published in the conference proceeding publication, which will be available to conference delegates at the outset of the conference.
