Description To date, the growing application of On-Condition Maintenance (OCM) to aircraft has been driven by the search for reduced costs and improved reliability. It has long been recognised that these is also potential for airworthiness and safety to benefit from condition monitoring systems. The increasing sophistication of such systems provides an opportunity to reconsider the potential contribution - if any - that these systems might also have for certification processes and the continued airworthiness management of aircraft in the future.

This seminar will address possible further developments, presented by experts of the current, leading, military and commercial aviation application. They will highlight the issues in collating and analysing the large volumes of data which these systems produce, in order to explore the potential for greater benefit.

The day will begin with a series of presentations by CMS experts as applied to aircraft engines, systems and structures. Delegates will then have the opportunity to discuss the key issues raised by the speakers and apply their own experience in facilitated workshops. The workshop groups will attempt to identify the technical, practical and policy issues in seeking to apply CMS to the management of airworthiness and will present their finding for discussion with a panel in a plenary session. The results of the plenary session will be distilled to give an overall picture of the issues and problems surrounding the use of CMS for airworthiness management.
