Engineering, for long associated to technical problems, is in the middle of economy and finance today. Indeed, in front of the complexity of the economic behaviour problems and the diversity of the financial tools, important and concrete questions in economy, finance and organisation require a mathematician modelling of the phenomena and powerful tools for the implementation of the action policies.
The economic and financial engineering and its associated mathematical models, developed in most cases from the 1940’s, come from problems of various origins in economy, operations research, finance, insurance, production management, risk management, prices models, industrial economy, prediction models, decision under risk and uncertainty, etc...
Today, it has become an important domain for training and research. Several MBA and European masters degrees concerning economic and financial engineering are set up in universities. More and more laboratories and research teams register this set of themes in their main research areas giving rise to an important scientific community which publishes in specialized journals and in international or regional symposiums.
This symposium FEES’2K8 is part of these scientific meetings on financial and economic engineering. It constitutes an opportunity to the researchers and PhD students to publish their works on the various sets of themes of this vast disciplinary field and be so involved in the scientific community specialized in the subject.
