INFECTION CONTROL UPDATE
- provide an overview of infection control practices in dentistry;
- review the hazards and risks to staff, patients and the public;
- review current infection control practices;
- discuss new developments in infection control.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
- provide an overview of the management of medical emergencies in general dental practice;
- describe the presentation of common medical emergencies;
- review the management of medical emergencies by the dental team
CONSCIOUS SEDATION
- provide an update on the use of conscious sedation for dentistry.
JUSTIFICATION, OPTIMISATION AND LIMITATION
- to provide dental practitioners with an update course in dental radiography and radiation protection , a 'core' CPD subject as recommended by the General Dental Council in 2006 and covering the IR(ME)R topics specified in the Department of Health's 2001 Guidance Notes booklet.
