Due to the overwhelming success of our 1st ever Stages of Autism Conference, where we saw 300 parents, educators, service providers and healthcare practitioners from all over Canada and the US come through our doors; we are offering yet another highly informative and multifaceted conference. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to attend a very unique conference that will provide an open forum for discussion and cover a multitude of topics related to adolescent and adult Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Stages of Autism: Adolescence & Beyond 2008 Conference is presented by Woodview Manor, Autism Support Services, a division of Woodview Children’s Centre and the Offord Centre for Child Studies, McMaster University and McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Woodview Manor started in 1988 as a Supported Independent Living Program for more able or “high-functioning” people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Since that time, the program has evolved to include part-time programs for adults, including recreational activities, skill training, and individual counselling and case management. “The Manor” also runs social/recreational groups for teens and for transition-aged youth.

Vocational services and supports have become a major part of their adult services. In 1994 they helped their folks start their own company, Manor Personnel Deployment, Inc. (MPD). Gross revenues have increased by over 1700% (to the end of 2004) and continue to grow. To find out more, please go to, as well, please visit to learn more about their parent organization.

The Offord Centre for Child Studies is dedicated to research in improving the life quality and life opportunities of children and youth who suffer from serious social and emotional problems. They believe kids deserve better than mere opinions. Their researchers are leaders in the scientific study of children’s emotional, social and cognitive development and are highly regarded in Canada and throughout the world.

Through our work, we seek to develop ways of diagnosing problems earlier, of having better methods of treatment that are less expensive and more effective, of finding ways to prevent the mental health problems that children face. We are also committed to training future generations of scientists to tackle the issues that have an impact on children’s mental health and development. We have developed a comprehensive training program that brings together the best and brightest of our young scientists from a variety of disciplines and teaches them how to conduct research that has immediate clinical relevance and is of the highest scientific standards.
