Over the years the "people" function has moved on from being merely administrative to becoming a profession in its own right. As such it has learnt many techniques and developed many tools which are applied in HR processes and programmes. Many of these processes are based on a hierarchical view of organisations and of people as primarily "costs". We will explore the concept of people as "value creating assets" (i.e human capital) and how this gives us a different lens to the traditional HR perspective
