Energy availability has always been important for human existence and growth. There was no mismatch between supply and demand when the civilization was in its initial stage of development. After industrial revolution, energy availability started playing much more important and vital role in the world. In the present 'global village' scenario, energy has become crucial for a country's sovereignty. Policies are being framed and even wars are being fought not to acquire land but to control energy sources.
In this scenario, it is important for us to deliberate and come out with 'strategies for an energy sufficient India', not only for today but for tomorrow and day after. This conference proposes to bring together experts, researchers, planners, administrators, users, practitioners, teachers and students to look at this issue in a global and future framework. It is expected that this group will be able to come out with strategies, including suggestions for alternative energy scenarios and resources, energy economy and savings, energy efficiency and effectiveness in different contextual situation and implementation at every stage of usage starting from domestic use to other productive and commercial uses. The conference will welcome innovative ideas and formulations; it will also look for analytical approaches and formulations for this important and strategically vital problem for the country.
