Asia Pacific Grains & Oilseeds Market 2008
Venue: the Lebua at State Tower
Event Date/Time: Apr 10, 2008 | End Date/Time: Apr 11, 2008 |
Description
The past two decades have shown how the grains and oilseeds marketplace have experienced extraordinary growth in spite of being heavily susceptible to weather conditions. India for instance, the second largest importer of wheat, is expecting to raise import by 68% possibly contributing to an all time high pricing for wheat. With the burgeoning prosperity, especially due to the “Chindia (China-India)†effect, it will take some time before supply could meet demand. Global food inventories are still estimated to be running at a 35-year low with food reserves in the form of wheat, rice, corn and other grains expected to last for less than 60 days of the global demand. Soybean, palm oil and other oilseeds supplies are also falling short leading to the constant fuel versus food debate. Various questions on ability to sufficiently produce as well as the impact on world trading pattern and prices are continuously being raised.
Prominent industry experts have been invited to share their insights – China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products; American Soybean Association – IM; Development Research Center of the State Council of China; Interfax; Jilin Grain Group Co. Ltd; MeyerOil - Austria; Midtrans Groups of Companies; Philippines Rice Research Institute; PT Sumberbumi Makmursejahtera; The Solvent Extractor’s Association of India; Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan; Soybean Producers Association of Mato Grosso, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and Rabobank International
Participants from various sectors - commodity trading, oilseed and grain processors, feed manufacturers, crushing and solvent extraction equipment suppliers, freight forwarders, biofuel producers, fertilizer producers, livestock companies, seed and genetics firms, financial institutions, agribusiness consultants and analysts are expected to be present.
