We create the forum and avenue for exchange of ideas and knowledge between noted oilfield scientists, oilfield engineers, and R & D expert from different parts of the world with those from emerging oil-producing regions. The first of such forum is the proposed “2009 Gulf of Guinea Oilfields Biotechnology Workshop”. The workshop will covers different aspects of biotechnological applications in oilfield including (i) Microbial Souring of Gulf of Guinea’s Oil and Gas Reservoirs (ii) Mechanisms, Management, and Monitoring of Microbial Influenced Corrosion (iii) Microbial Methods for Improved Production and Enhancement of Oil Recovery (iv) Biogeochemical Prospecting for Oil and Gas (v) Bioremediation as a Clean-up Option in the Niger-Delta.
The event also include 2-day pre-workshop tutorials and courses on (i) Basic Microbiology and Microbial Processes in Oilfields (ii)Practical Aspects of Field-Wide Control of Souring with Nitrate in Offshore Reservoirs (iii) Site Assessment and Bioremediation of Oil Spill Sites and Oily Wastes

Additional Information

Gulf of Guinea is currently the most prolific hydrocarbon exploration zone in the world. Biotechnologies as applied in mature oil producing zones could save billions of dollars of annual revenue in the Gulf of Guinea. This workshop and exhibition intends to create the direction in realizing this.
