Theme:

An economically, socially developed and self-reliant society can be created through application of Appropriate Technology for Sustainable Development. The key to this will be the development of appropriate technology that integrates region-specific technology with new environment-conscious models and a socioeconomic system that accepts and use appropriate technology. The 7th All India Peoples’ Technology Congress is dedicated to this cause.
Through out the country scientists, engineers scientific workers and also artisans are continuously developing techniques and models aimed at improving quality of life of the stakeholders. Researches are going on at the national level institutes and laboratories. Field-level application of technologies developed in laboratories are also being taken-up by people of different cross-section. To assimilate all the efforts and with a aim to create a national-level database and model of technologies, which are appropriate for the ultimate users; All India Peoples’ Technology Congress is organised in every alternate year in the month of February at Kolkata.
FOSET, being an organisation under Core-Support of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India feels proud to organise the event in association with other organisations dedicated for the cause.

Exhibition:

Limited number of Table space of size 5’ x 4’ will be arranged for display of products and literatures of participant institutes, industries, Government Departments, NGOs and Self Help Groups on first-come first-serve basis. For the NGOs and Self Help Groups it will be free of cost and for others there will be a nominal charge of Rs.5000/- only.

Participation:

Participation in AIPTC is open to all people, who are interested in the theme of the congress.

Call for Papers:

Papers are invited from individuals/ institutions to comply with the AIPTC’s main topics listed above. Papers on Ready-to-Transfer Technologies and Field-level, Cost-effective Applications of Science and Technology are most welcome.

Guidelines for Paper Presenters:

 The abstract should generally not exceed 500 words.
 Submit two complete hard copies of the Manuscript and a compact disk containing the final version of the paper. The manuscript should be within 3000 words, typed in single space on one side of A4 sized paper (210 X 297 mm with a printing area of 150 X 205 mm). Leave margin of 30 mm on left side as well as on the top. The typeface should always be Times New Roman, with a font size of 12 except in the cases specified separately.
 Title of the paper should be typed in Bold Capitals (Font Size 14), commencing from 50 mm. below the top of the page. Name(s) of Author(s) should be typed two spaces below the title in Title case. Please underline the principal/presenting author’s name.
 Section headings should be centered and titled 11-point bold upper & lower cases. The subsection headings should be left aligned and typed in 11-point italics with upper & lower cases.
 Tables should be given a table number and a description. They should be numbered using Arabic Numerals.
 Include only important references numbered in the order of their appearance in the text.
 The length of the manuscripts should be restricted to 10 pages maximum
 Please include black & white photographs only
 The Paper should be ready-to-print.

Registration:

All participants including authors, co-authors (if any) have to submit the attached Registration Form duly filled-in and signed.

Registration Fees:
•Paper-presenters and Delegates from Institutes, Government Departments, Industries:Rs.2500.00
•Paper-presenters and Delegates from Non-government Organisations, Panchayats, Local Self Governments, Faculties of Educational Institutions:Rs.300.00
•Paper-presenters and Delegates from Student community(Authorisation letter from Head of the Institute has to be attached with the Registration Form), Member of Farmers Clubs, Self Help Groups, Rural Cooperatives and FOSET Life Members:Rs.100.00
•Other Individual Paper presenter and delegate:Rs.500.00

Modes of payment:
•Cheque / Bank Draft drawn in favour of “Forum of Scientists, Engineers and Technologists” on any Kolkata Branch of a Bank (Please add Rs.25/- for cheques drawn on banks located outside Kolkata)
•Money Order (to be sent to Forum of Scientists, Engineers and Technologists, 15N Nelli Sengupta Sarani (5th Floor), Kolkata-700087)
•Cash - to be deposited to the Office Assistant, Forum of Scientists, Engineers and Technologists, 15N Nelli Sengupta Sarani (5th Floor), Kolkata-700087 between 12 Noon and 8 P.M. on weekdays (Monday to Friday).

Accommodation:

The Organising Committee will arrange accommodation on twin-sharing basis at Guest Houses of different Institutes from 5th February 2009 - 12 Noon to 8th February 2009 - 12 Noon on receiving request and necessary charges of Rs.250/- per person along with Registration Fees. The above charge is for accommodation and food for all these days.

Special Provision

The Organising Committee may reimburse to-and-fro AC-3 tier train fare to the Principal Author (or Presenter) of selected papers and will arrange for their accommodation free-of-cost. This will be under the sole discretion of the Organising Committee. For this, photocopy of the train ticket has to be attached to the Registration Form and the original ticket has to be produced during registration at the Congress venue.
