Classification schemes are integral in organising crucial data within the business by providing a structure to improve information location and analysis. However, Business Classification Schemes (BCS) these days are far more than just a simple record-keeping tool, and now have the potential to move across applications, online and beyond.

This has left those charged with implementation and management of classification schemes, BCS’s, taxonomies, folksonomies and ontologies with a problem: how to advance their schema into exiting new areas with the technology and support required to make them succeed?

The task for these managers is to employ the skills and techniques employed in the initial implementation of classification schemes to assess the health of their current scheme and provide a launching pad for the expansion of the scheme throughout the organisation. Also crucial is an assessment of the suitability of the schemas and technologies that are available to their unique situation, along with cultivating and maintaining support from users and senior management.

This two-day conference will empower designers, users and managers of classification schemes with an improved understanding of:

*What is required to ensure a fully functioning classification scheme

*Expanding and aligning your schema with other enterprise systems

*Streamlining information assessment and organisation

*Embracing the perspectives of users and senior managers
