Papers might deal with but are not limited to such topics as:
• political power and class divisions;
• issues surrounding gender;
• the growth of secular knowledge in the form of universities,
• the dissemination and censorship of such knowledge;
• religion;
• heresy;
• commerce and economics;
• physical prowess;
• the place of marginal groups within medieval society.
Abstracts of 300 words for a 20 minute paper (with ten minutes allowed for questions and discussion) should be sent by Friday the 5th of September, either electronically to info@medievalpower.com or by post to Power in the Middle Ages, English Department, NUIG, University Road, Galway, Ireland.
