Founded in 2002, RAMA is a non-profit professional organization of Russian physicians, biomedical researchers and allied health professionals that has grown extraordinarily rapidly and now has a membership of over 400 professionals representing 40 US states and Canada. In 2004, we entered into an alliance with the RADA.
Since its conception, RAMA has established partnerships with over 50 private and government organizations. Working with these and other collaborators, RAMA provides medical and humanitarian aid on the local level, supports medical education, and provides input to government agencies in formulating economic policies relating to health care. RAMA also began publishing a peer-reviewed medical journal in 2004 and offers a wide range of services and resources for physicians, other health-care professionals, and biomedical scientists. These include:
# a nationwide physician referral service;
# special initiative for scientific collaborations with FSU;
# scholarships for Russian medical students, physicians, and scientists the opportunity to study in the United States;
# job placement and staff recruitment;
# funding to support educational and clinical missions to Russia;
# funding to provide care for patients with difficult medical conditions who cannot obtain effective treatment in Russia.
