Event Date/Time: Nov 12, 2008
End Date/Time: Nov 16, 2008
Sep 20, 2008
The event would take place in ‘Pablo de Olavide’ University, Seville, during one of the first weeks of the academic year, from November 12th to November 16th.
It would hold 50 people from different Laboratories or Institutes around Europe. The students would be undergraduates in their last years, or PhDs in their first. Each of them is to give a 10 minutes speech about the reseach project they carry out in their respective country. After the presentations 5 minutes would be set aside for questions, so that any doubt could be clarified and a critical attitude could be maintained.
Due to the many different scientific fields the conference should be divided into three categories. This is an appropriate distribution considering the total number of people. These categories are not defined yet and would depend on the applications.
In each category, all the presentations would be graded by an expert panel. This jury would be formed by researchers from our University and its Research Centres who volunteered for it. Any other scientist inhabitant of Seville who wanted to colaborate would be gladly accepted.
The three first presentations from each category with the highest punctuation would be awarded for its merit. We are considering a diploma, a scientific book and a souvenir from the region as suitable prizes.
Apart from the student talks, three guest lectures would be included: one in the opening event, a second one before the begining of the presentations and the last one as a closure.
In order to get the most out of the meeting a visit to the Natural Park of Doñana might be arranged. For the foreign students it is an unique oportunity to go there. At the same time is the perfect moment for social exchange, in a educational enviroment.
A 40€ registration fee would be required. The students would be accommodated in Seville hostel and all meals would be included.
The programme would be expanded to include international parties, cultural treasure hunts, regional meals, etc. We welcome your support, and any additional ideas would be appreciated.
