Venue: University of Dchang
|Event Date/Time: Jan 13, 2009||End Date/Time: Jan 30, 2009|
The most serious problem facing Africa today is not poverty, disease nor corruption as we often think but that of leadership. And as Koffi Annan, the former U.N Secretary General puts it, it is the greatest challenge in Africa. He said, the answer lies in preparing tomorrow’s’ leaders today. But how do we do this in an increasingly spiritually and physically corrupt world. Richard Foster describes this contemporary ill when he writes, “Superficiality is the curse of our ageâ€. The dogma of instant satisfaction is a primary spiritual and physical problem. The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent or gifted people but for “deep peopleâ€.
In trying to respond to this need in our society, our goal for this workshop is to help:
Participants understand the complexities of the Community/ Marketplace and the need for Servant-Leadership.
Provide participants with skills and resources that would enable them serve strategically in a challenging pluralistic Community.
Participants pursue a multiple strategy: job creation and income generation; profitability and sustainability in a global community.
Participants develop virtue and set high standards of non-corrupt behavior in the Community/marketplace.
Thus at the end of the workshop, participants are expected to:
v Have an understanding of their real identity, dignity and uniqueness.
v Have an understanding of the kind of Leadership necessary for the Community and the management of the 21st Century organization.
v Be able to define a strategic vision and mission statements for themselves and their organizations.
v Know the kind of Character needed to meet the challenge of leadership in the Community and in a global culture.
vUnderstand the importance of biblical spirituality in the Development and leadership of organizations in the 21st century.
v Understand the role of leadership in the building of a healthy organizational culture
