Wit the advancement of Science and Technology, integration of latest technology with the conventional wisdom has brought a revolutionary change in the field of Medical Diagnostics, Therapy and Rehabilitation. With the introduction of conventional multifaceted imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, USG and more recently Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Confocal Microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Raman Spectroscopy, Microbubble Enhance US Imaging Elastography, Auto-fluoresence & IR Imaging, there has been revolutionary changes in disease diagnosis and analysis at the micro and molecular levels.
These remarkable developments in Medical Imaging further intensified by the various quantitative Image Analysis techniques, coupled with Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence, have led to the development of Computer Aided Diagnostic Systems.
Increasingly, these developments have opened a new vista for scientific interaction amongst various disciplines. Today, in addition to the Medical professionals, Mathematicians, Physicists, Chemists, Bio-technologists and Engineers are constantly interacting for the enrichment of the domain knowledge.
The School of Medical Science & Technology, IIT, Kharagpur is actively involved in multi-disciplinary teaching and research in Medical Imaging and Instrumentation, Bio-materials, Tissue engineering, Reproductive Biology and Medical Bio-technology, Cancer Biology and Wound healing. To keep pace with the latest global trends, the School is organizing the Short Term Course on 'Recent Trends and Techniques in Medical Imaging and Image Processing' and National Workshop on 'Technology in Health Care: Prospects & Challenges' for specialized groups of Scientists, Biologists, Medicos, Engineers and Researchers from various Academic and R&D sectors. This scientific event will allow the participants to avail an opportunity to get exposed to recent developments in Medical Imaging and also make them aware about the evolving requirement of the Industries.
