The average warfighter consumes 8 AA batteries over the course of a five-day mission, and the military uses approximately 2.4 million gallons of fuel every day in Iraq and Afghanistan. New technological breakthroughs to power devices and machinery are at the forefront in the long war, with the key thrusts being to reduce weight, increase efficiency, and outlast mission durations--all at the lowest cost possible. This event will examine the immediate need to utilize new and emerging technologies to overcome current fuel consumption rates and address the need for improved large and small scale power.
