Description
Energy technologies, Defense, Space, Industry all such sectors are constantly searching for materials with longer lifetimes and of more tolerance to radiation and research is encouraged to meet this goal.
An additional protocol is to be pursued to grow body of data on the behavior of materials under specified conditions. The whole scenario underlines the necessity of understanding material properties with great precision. How far the frontier experimental state-of art facilities and computational resources can bring paradigm shift in precision measurement of materials is an issue needs to be addressed. Few outstanding scientists whose exceptionally creative work open up new frontiers in material research will discuss selected topics of material science in the ambiance of “SANTINIKETAN†and in the backdrop of a recently developed research laboratory with state – of – art facilities to enlighten the august audience about options of employing probes and material treatments to make further progress in material research.
TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED:
i)Application of frontier techniques in materials (ii)Beam application to grow nanostructure (iii) Controlling of properties iv)Fusion research materials v)Nuclear data analysis method for nuclear power systems vi) Electron-Positron Beam System vii) Processing technology
SPECIAL FEATURE : A COMPETITION ON
“IMAGES OF MATERIALS AS GENERATED FROM YOUR RESEARCHâ€.
DECLARATION OF RESULTS AND AWARD CEREMONY WILL BE
HELD ON 17TH JANUARY, 2009 AFTER TECHNICAL SESSION
Three images will be awarded for merit
• Professor Pierre Moser memorial award
• Professor Chanchal K. Mazumder memorial award
• Professor Dipankar Chatterjee memorial award
and a certificate of merit.
All qualified entries will be encouraged with a certificate and a memento and their
entries will be included in a special book with the title of the competition theme .
MRFSAF-09 Organizing Committee is pleased to announce further that a special feature is included in the announced panel discussion meeting which will be held during January17-18,2009 at Department of Physics, Visva-Bharati.
The special feature is a competition on : Images of Materials as generated from your research as theme.
MRFSAF-09 is inviting researchers irrespective of professional status to participate in this special feature of competition.
Rationale of the Thematic Competition :
Images produced in the course of research in materials science by incorporating tools provide an important evidence of analysis and presentation of scientific work. The data tables , graphs and equations sometimes can not match the incontrovertible character of an image. Nutshell, images carry information, authenticity and quality of research with a blend and grandeur of objectivity and beauty. Imaging is recognized as a Scientific method of investigation.
Hence, all images obtained by any material imaging technique are acceptable for competition . It can also be the result of modeling and simulation, or can be obtained by combining multiple images into one artistic image.
But the images must have some connection to materials science.
