The Department of General Business and Finance at Sam Houston State University is organizing their first General Business conference (GBA2009). Huntsville is located just north of Houston, Texas. This two day conference is aimed at establishing a platform to share research findings and initiatives to enhance research and teaching in the area of general business. Topics in the areas of finance, law, entrepreneurship and business communications are welcomed. Other related topics are also welcome. The organizers hope to provide an avenue for intellectual discourse among conference participants to promote discussions and share knowledge, experiences and expertise in these areas.
Paper Submissions. Papers or abstracts are invited in, but not limited to, the track areas listed in the following page. All papers will be blind refereed electronically, and accepted papers will be published in the conference Proceedings. Abstracts should be of sufficient detail to indicate clearly the objectives of the research. It is understood that submissions have not been previously published in a Proceedings or journal, nor are submissions currently under review for publication or presentation elsewhere. Submission of a paper implies that an author will register for the conference, attend the conference, and personally present the paper, if accepted.

Program Participation. Paper reviewers, discussants, and session chairpersons will be needed for a successful program. Please contact the program chair or one of the track chairs to indicate your interest by February 16, 2009. Symposia, tutorials, workshops, or panels on relevant topics are invited. Please contact the Program Chair concerning these proposals.

Best Papers will be published in Journals. The best papers from the conference will be published in the appropriate journals after the conference. Only completed papers that are submitted by the due date will be considered for publication. The journal publication is made possible by Allied Academies. Authors will be notified before the conference if their paper was selected for journal publication.

Proceedings. Proceedings will be available at the conference. Authors should indicate if they wish to publish in the proceedings. They will have a choice of either publishing an abstract or the entire article. Publishing the proceedings does not exclude publication in the journal, which will occur after the conference.

Continuing Education. Credit will be provided for attorneys and Certified Public Accountants (CPA’s) based on hours attended in each respective area. Please contact Chip Matthews at or visit the conference web-site for additional information.

Student Papers. Students are encouraged to submit papers to the student track. Papers submitted in the student track must be solely of student authorship.
