Program Purpose / Objectives
The purpose of this CME activity is to equip healthcare practitioners with evidence based strategies to use in clinical practice for managing obesity and the Metabolic Syndrome.

â€¢ Recognize the role of adipose tissue in energy storage and expenditure.
â€¢ Discuss the role of pharmacotherapy in the management of obesity.
â€¢ Develop individualized weight-management plans for patients.
â€¢ Describe strategies for staying involved in the long-term management and follow-up of obese patients.
â€¢ Identify therapeutic and lifestyle interventions to avoid onset of metabolic syndrome in children and adults.
â€¢ Discuss medical/legal considerations in the management of the obese patient.
â€¢ Describe the assessment, diagnosis, and management of depression and sleep apnea.
â€¢ Discuss strategies for weight management in:
â€¢ The obese postmenopausal patient.
â€¢ The obese diabetic patient.
