Program Purpose / Objectives
The course will examine various factors related to the use and abuse of drugs. One of the main themes will relate to why some people lose their ability to socially and physiologically regulate their drugs intake. The course material will focus on the concepts prevailing in the field as well as theoretical notions underlying these concepts. This course can be broken down into three complimentary sections. The first covers drugs in society and in our lives, such as history, definition and effects. The second section reviews the legally restricted drugs in our society. The third major section covers the legal drugs in our society. Particular focus will be on individual, group and family treatment. A brief outline of the topics to be covered is provided below.
