Description the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) is going to organise its Seventh UMT International Symposium on Sustainability Science and Management (UMTAS) 2008. This three-day annual symposium is intended to provide useful platform to discuss emerging opportunities and issues in the maritime domain, including management and research directed to the objectives of sustainable yield and resource conservation and protection of marine environment.

The symposium would compel timely responses to the East Coast Economic Region (ECER). The ECER has identified maritime infrastructure and marine tourism as interests in its development strategies. With anticipation, the upcoming symposium will be able to throw some light on issues that could be addressed in order to ensure that future actions support the realisation of ECER.
