Description This meeting is part of The Jackson Laboratory’s ongoing “Discovery Strategies” series, which brings researchers together from industry and academia to discuss how the laboratory mouse can be leveraged to discover and develop new therapeutic approaches to treating specific diseases. “Discovery Strategies: Modeling Human Autoimmune Diseases in the Laboratory Rodent” addresses the development of therapeutic approaches for the treatment of 3 prevalent autoimmune diseases: multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythrematosis. Each disease area presents its own challenges with respect to preclinical development and modeling safety and efficacy in the clinic. With an eye toward how rodents, mice in particular, can be used in the drug discovery pipeline this meeting will also act as a forum for discussing concordance between model systems, the need for new model development and possible applications for humanized mouse models in the development of novel therapies.
