| Description |
** WORKSHOP AIMS **
Pattern formation has common features in a wide variety of natural contexts, ranging from biology to physics. Despite the differences between these systems, the patterns that appear display common features, indicating some kind of universal underlying structure. Particle systems, and granular media in particular, have proven to be a rich class of models, studied across disciplines, to understand these features. This workshop is mainly devoted to introduce these topics to research students and post-docs via a set of general talks and to illustrate the research frontier by more advanced presentations.
** THE LIST OF CONFIRMED INVITED SPEAKERS INCLUDES **
O. Dauchot (Paris), P. Richard and A. Valence (Rennes), M. Pica Ciamarra (Napoli), M. Swift (Nottingham), P. Thomas and S. Grosskinsky (Warwick), J. Yeomans (Oxford), D.E. Wolf (Duisburg)
