Description SYMPOSIUM TOPICS


1) Combustion Fundamentals: Laminar and turbulent flames, Ignition, Supersonic combustion and detonation, Chemistry of combustion, Reaction kinetics, Propellant combustion, Explosion, Diffusion flames, Droplet combustion, Spray combustion, Soot formation and decomposition, Experimental diagnostics, Simulation and numerical models.


2) Practical Combustion Systems and Design: IC engines, Gas turbine, Ramjets, Rockets, Pulsed combustion, Pulverized coal combustion, Fluidized bed combustion, Incineration, Coal gasification, Measurement and control systems, Design of combustion systems.


3) Air Pollution Generated by Combustion: Emissions from engines and combustors, Emissions from ships sailing narrow seas, Natural gas, Alternate and synthetic fuels for pollutants reduction, Thermal and catalytic converters, Incineration of industrial and hazardous waste.


4) Energy Conversion and Utilization: Energy resources, Energy conversion technology, Storage and recovery, Energy economics, Policy and management, Performance monitoring methods, System design and operation, Measurement and Control systems.


5) Fire and Fire Fighting: Fires, Fire hazard, Fuels and flammability, Ignition and explosion, Smoke and heat venting, Fire protection concepts, Fire loads and resistance ratings, Fire detection, control and alarm systems, Extinguishment of fires.




SYMPOSIUM LOCATION
The symposium will be held in Sakarya University Congress Center.

SYMPOSIUM LANGUAGE
The symposium language will be Turkish or English.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The advisory committee will select contributions for formal and poster presentations. In evaluation, priority will be given to original papers. Papers in the form of literature review will be selected in limited numbers. Accepted high quality papers will be published in the Symposium Proceedings. In addition, A set of contributed papers will be selected for post-conference publication in special issues of “Energy and Fuel” and “The Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology of Sakarya University”.




ABSTRACTS
Authors are invited to submit abstracts of 200 words in length, typewritten in English or Turkish on A4 sized paper, to the Symposium Secretariat. The abstracts should include the paper title, the author(s) name(s), affiliation, full mailing address, fax and phone numbers, e-mail address. The abstract must state clearly the objectives, method used, results and conclusions. The abstract in the second language should include the title of the paper. Abstracts should be submitted by March 10, 2008.

PAPERS
The papers should be written in Turkish or English, in clear type, 1 spaced, on a A4 sized white paper within a 120x180 mm frame, in one column with a font size 11 in Times New Roman, and with the title in capital letters, followed by the name(s) and affiliation of author(s). The title of the paper in the second language should be written on the second abstract. Accepted papers should also be submitted to symposium e-mail by June 15, 2008.

REGISTRATION FEE
Each participant will pay 150 Euro for early registration fee and 175 Euro for late registration to a bank account number that will be announced in the web page. Fees include the cost of reception, lunches/dinners, coffee breaks, banquet, and conference proceedings.
