ICSM 2008, the International Conference on Science and Technology of Synthetic Metals will
take place in Porto de Galinhas, Pernambuco, Brazil, from 06-11 July, 2008.
This is the first time that ICSM, the largest international conference on the
field of conducting polymers and organic functional materials will take place
in Latin America. According to the tradition established since 1976, every two
years ICSM gathers at different cities in the world a multidisciplinary team of
physicists, chemists, and materials science and engineering scientists and
researchers to discuss the most recent advances in the field.
At ICSM 2008 a special session will be held in memory of Prof. Alan G.
MacDiarmid, Nobel Prize winner and one of the pioneers of the field of
conducting polymers, when a balance of the first 30 years of the area will be
made in the light of the expected future developments. ICSM 2008 details can be
