Network with fellow textbook and academic authors and learn how to maximize your authoring efforts at the Text and Academic Authors Association's 2008 Conference on Text and Academic Authoring at Harrah's in Las Vegas, June 19-21.
The conference includes two half-day workshops, “The Basics of Textbook Writing” and “Writing for Publication”; sessions on writer's block, contracts, the journal reviewing process, issues faced by minority authors, co-authorship, marketing; keeping concepts simple; publishing a disseration; finding images; and making a work more visual; a Roundtable Discussions Luncheon with topics on e-books and royalties, preparing the next edition, deciphering your royalty statement; K-12 authoring and publishing; working with co-authors; author-editor relationships; gaining tenure; and journal article review; and mentoring sessions with veteran authors, authoring attorneys and a literary agent.
This conference is for current and aspiring textbook authors; authors of scholarly journal articles, monographs, and other academic writing; K-12 teachers; college and university faculty; publishers; textbook reps; and editors.
Member registration is $195 before May 1 ($245 after), and Non-Member registration is $245 before May 1 ($295 after). Non-members can join TAA for as little as $15.
