Description Faculty of Business Administration, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand and Kingston Business School, London UK are jointly hosting the 1st Bangkok International Forum on Indigenous Management Practices commencing, December 8th-12nd, 2008 at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand.

The goal of the forum is to provide a lively and informal venue where a variety of questions and ideas regarding Indigenous Management can be presented and discussed by academics and other professionals in an interdisciplinary and creative environment. The focus will be on the place of current management theories within the context of practical problems experienced by developing countries.

We invite for submission interesting papers that employ novel, indigenously sensitive or interdisciplinary approaches that reflect the views of those in various areas including the social sciences, arts or humanities. The deadline for papers is September 1st, 2008 and should include author's full name, affiliations, mailing address, telephone/fax numbers and e-mail address. Papers are expected to be in PDF format (APA style) and should be no longer than 5000 words excluding diagrams, tables and other attachments. All accepted papers will be assigned ISBN numbers and included in a complimentary CD ROM that will be provided all forum participants and contributors.

Agenda particulars will be provided forum participants following registration and will include exploration of different issues surrounding Indigenous Management including but not limited to the following:


Is there any place for modern day management theories in Indigenous Management?
What does Indigenous philosophy offer to Indigenous practice?
What does “practice” mean to the Indigenous manager?
How can Indigenous “theory-in-practice” be developed and promoted?

Additional Information A special issue of AI & Society has been negotiated. Discussions with other journals with regard to special issues are in progress. The organisers would welcome suggestions and recommendations regarding special issues related to the forum
The Registration fee is 150 Euros in total before October 21st ,2008 (200 Euros after October 21st, 2008) and this does not include the study trip to southern Thailand. It does include conference attendance, materials, lunch, refreshment, evening function attendance, and one CD ROM copy of the forum proceedings.

The cut-off date for forum registration is October 31, 2008.
