Greetings to all arts communities near and far!
We wish to extend an invitation to dance and music communities across the nation to attend this wonderful event, the Congolese Dance and Drum Festival. The past couple of years have been great and we are expecting this year to be the best yet! There will be something for everyone, whether or not you dance or drum or love to listen to the beautiful rhythms of Central Africa, you can find it at this festival. Please look at the highlights we have for you, which this year includes a Performance! There are also some additions to last year based on the survey response. The youth workshop will be part drum and part dance so bring the little ones with their drums and let them have a good time; it’s all ages and it’s FREE at 9:00am on Saturday, June 7, 2008! We have two lectures (also FREE), one that will kick off the opening of the festival and the other on the Sunday morning of the festival. Lastly, for you Soukous, Ndumbolo, Coupe’ Decale’, Congolese Rumba, etc. lovers, we have a SOUKOUS dance workshop this year! So come on out and bring your friends and family with you because all will enjoy themselves in this weekend packed with Central African Culture!!!!!!! Please read the included information, as it will answer most of your questions. We will see you on the dance floor!
In Dance,
LaKiesha
